Ball State University Electronic Field Trips
Ball State University's Electronic Field Trips are the result of partnerships between Ball State University and museums across the country. Since most students are unable to take advantage of the immeasurable content in faraway museums, our program uses technology to make those resources available to a large, national audience. We do many EFTs each year, each with a unique topic geared toward different grade levels.



Board Briefs
Board Brief gives School Board members a chance to share their views about news and happenings taking place in Prince William County Public Schools. The program is produced by the Prince William County Public Schools Office of Media Production Services and airs regularly on PWCS-TV.

GED Preparation GED Math

This course is designed for the adult learner who is preparing to take the GED Mathematics Test. Each program is 30 minutes of fun, fast paced action, that will help teach and enforce the specific skills necessary to be successful on the GED Math Test.


GED Preparation Language Arts, Reading
Summer 2008 - Tuesdays

GED Language Arts, Reading, aimed at the 8th grade reading level, is designed for the adult learner or alternative education student who is preparing to take the GED Language Arts, Reading test. This course addresses critical thinking skills, such as literal understanding, inferential understanding and analyzing style and structure.


GED Preparation Language Arts, Writing
Summer 2008- Wednesdays and Sundays
6:00AM and 10:00PM airings.

GED Language Arts, Writing is designed to provide participants with the instruction and practice in the skill areas used in Parts 1 and 2 of the GED Language Arts, Writing test. The course meets the national standards for the 2002 version of the GED. The skills for Part 1 include English grammar and usage, sentence and paragraph structure, editing, punctuation, organization and vocabulary. Part 2 of the test utilizes all of these skills in the development of a basic, five-paragraph opinion essay.


GED Preparation Science
Summer 2008 -Fridays

GED Science is a fourteen-lesson course designed to provide participants with background in the skill areas covered on the GED Science test. The scope of the course includes the environment, nature vs. nurture, the rainforest, weather and climate the effects of space on the human body, and other topics. The course emphasizes interpretation of information from graphs, charts, diagrams, and illustrations.


GED Preparation Social Studies

GED Social Studies is designed to help participants prepare for and pass the GED Social Studies test. The subject areas covered in these lessons are US history and world history, geography, civics and government, and economics. The support material for this course includes focus sheets for each lesson, worksheets and answer keys for each lesson, and suggested supplemental activities.

Inside Education, a PWCS-TV Channel 18 original program, offers an in-depth look at major initiatives and keeps the community updated on important school division matters.


Mathematics: What's the Big Idea?
This series provides teachers with the tools they need to explore new ways to teach mathematics in K - 8 classrooms. Using a variety of models, activities, and video clips, this workshop encourages participants to reflect upon their own practices and discuss ideas for innovation in teaching.

School Board Meetings
The School Board meets during the school year on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the School Board Meeting Room, 14800 Joplin Road, Independent Hill.

Teen Kids News is a dynamic television news program for teens and pre-teens-by teens. The half-hour weekly program provides information and news to students in a way that's educational as well as entertaining. The focus of the program is young people, so all the stories are in their words.
